A burglar who broke into an Alfreton home whilst the victims were asleep has been jailed for two years.

Craig Goodwin, of Haddon Close, Alfreton, was sentenced after he admitted burglary and dishonestly making a false representation to make gain.

The 38-year-old broke into a house in King Street, Alfreton, while the homeowners were asleep, taking bags and laptops, on April 25, 2015.

He then tried to withdraw money from the victim’s bank account and was caught on CCTV at a local cash point.

When he was arrested several months later, Goodwin was wearing the same clothes seen on CCTV and a laptop taken during the burglary was recovered at his house.

Goodwin was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, March 30.
