Court order after pub attack

A FORMER Westwood man attacked his partner in front of customers in a pub after finding she was having an affair with her boss, a court was told.

Stephen Maloney, 48, formerly of Palmerston Street, went out on November 13 in Alfreton and drank up to ten pints of beer when he saw Caroline Hillman.

“He argued with her and he lost his temper and grabbed her hair and pulled her to the floor,” prosecutor Rosemary Lake told magistrates.

Christopher Hallas, defending, said: “He is ashamed and embarrassed and he regrets his behaviour, which was out of character.”

Maloney, who now lives with his mother in Well Lane, Higham, admitted assault.

Magistrate Grant Stothart ordered Maloney to pay her £100 compensation, fined him £365, with £85 costs, and imposed a two-year restraining order prohibiting Maloney from contacting Ms Hillman.
