Police hunt Idlewells hammer raiders after jewellery robbery in Sutton

Police are investigating a report of a robbery at H&T Pawnbrokers in The Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

At about 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, July 18) two men entered the store and threatened a shop worker with a hammer before stealing a quantity of jewellery and watches.

Two community protection officers arrived at the scene a short time later. One was hit in the face with an asp baton and was taken to the King’s Mill Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect made off on a motorbike. One of them is believed to be white, about 6ft tall and of stocky build. The other is believed to be white and about 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10 ins tall.

They were wearing black biker gear and black helmets.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 600 of 18 July 2018, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
