Police team help in riots

EASTWOOD police officers were sent down to London to help out during the riots last week.

Several police officers from Eastwood Police Station were sent to the city, along with many others from Nottinghamshire after the Metropolitan Police called on over 30 forces nationwide for help.

Pc Rob English, who has been the beat manager at Eastwood for the past seven years was one of them.

He said: “My activities involved moving from incident to incident trying to gain control over youths across the city. I was part of the team involved in the arrests of those who burgled a jewellers.”

Pc English was also sent to the Meadows Police Station in Nottingham when it was attacked.

“I’m just proud to have been able to do my bit,” he said.
