NEW afternoon tea dancing sessions proved a hit with the pensioners in Eastwood last week.

About 25 people turned up for the first afternoon tea dance, which was organised by Age Concern, and the town Mayor Ken Woodhead also went along to see what it was all about.

Local singer David Lawrence was the entertainer and the guests did the waltz, jive and sequence dancing.

Age Concern treasurer Josie Forrest said: “Everybody enjoyed it. David sang music suitable for waltzing and they did a bit of line dancing as well.”

The sessions at the Colin Dyson Centre, in Edward Road, are held every Thursday at 2pm and cost £2.50 each.

Mrs Forrest said: “I can’t speak highly enough of David. They all loved him. He is a great entertainer.”
