KIDS at Brookhill Leys Primary School have been busy both sprucing up their eco-garden and learning first aid.

Pupils spent a day improving the garden to work towards their eco award and have been presented with first aid certificates by representatives from St John Ambulance.

The school received donations from the Wildlife Trust, Reubenshaws Garden Centre and B&Q in Eastwood and teachers invited parents and grandparents in for the day to dig out the flower beds and plant new seeds following the winter.

The school plans to apply for the eco award in the near future.

Year six pupils recently passed the St John Ambulance School Mark Award, which means they can now carry out first aid.

Pupils at the school take the course every year.
