Eastwood is set to be buzzing with activity over the next six weeks as Eastwood Arts Festival is set to return to the town.
The annual event will officially be launched tomorrow when a larger-than-life ringmaster hits the streets and Newmount Brass Band perform outside the library to help spread the word.
Joining them on Eastwood town centre high street to let shoppers know about the festival will be a host of performers and volunteers from the Eastwood Arts Festival Steering Group.
Also on hand to dish out programmes will be Broxtowe mayor Cllr Margaret Handley and Eastwood mayor Cllr Brian Griffin.
He said: “Eastwood Arts Festival is a very important event in our town calendar. We are the envy of other towns because of this. It is a month of wonderful events catering for all ages from art to music to drama to dance for young and old.”
One of the highlights of this year’s Festival will the free Beijing to Broxtowe Proms, an outdoor music event in Colliers Wood to celebrate the imminent arrival of the Olympics.
There will also be the annual Family Fun Day, sponsored this year by ASDA Active, with fun for all ages. And back once again, will be the VIBE event for teenagers in the town.
The festival runs between June 24 and August 1 and you can find a selection of the events printed on your right.
