12-year-old girl rape charge
A MAN from Hucknall has been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl in Kimberley.
20-year-old Ryan Cooper, of Watnall Road, Hucknall, has been charged and released on police bail.
He will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on April 27.
The victim, from Ilkeston reported being assaulted in Maws Lane, a short distance from the junction with Lawn Mill Road, on Wednesday 26 October last year.
A section of the pavement and a residents’ garden at the corner of the junction was cordoned off while scene of crime officers carried out forensic tests.
Police also conducted house-to-house enquiries and looked at CCTV footage.
Shortly after the incident Kimberley town councillor Sarah Brown called for the street lights to be left switched on.
