£26,000 boost for Kimberley park
A £26,000 grant has been awarded for play equipment at Hall Om Wong Park in Kimberley, but the funds will only be released if an additional £20,000 can be found.
WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Limited) has offered the money on the condition that it is part of a 46,000 scheme for the Eastwood Road park.
Kimberley town councillor, Mel Crow, who has been fighting for the funds for over a year, says there is already 9,000 which can be carried over from last year's Broxtowe Borough Council community development budget, but it still leaves a deficit of 11,000.
Last summer the play fort in the younger children's play area there was condemned by insurers and Cllr Crow applied to WREN for a grant to get it replaced.
She said: "We had hoped the new equipment would be in place by the summer holidays, sadly that doesn't look achievable, but I am confident officers will come up with other options and it will not be long before this play area is once again able to offer the children a full complement of equipment and the space maximised to it's full potential.
