40th anniversary for Girls’ Brigade

Celebrations were held at Nuthall Methodist Church to mark the 40th anniversary of the village’s Girls’ Brigade.

More than 50 girls past and present, who have been associated with the group since its inception in 1972, attended a reunion, organised by the current captain, Kathryn Broadley.

Kathryn said: “Old friendships have been rekindled and it’s good to know that the future of the 1st Nuthall Girls Brigade looks assured with so many enthusiastic girls involved.

A special service of thanksgiving was conducted by district by commissioner Lorna Bown and featured the passing round of a flaming torch and a performance sketch by several current brigade members.
