Award for Dowager Duchess
The Dowager Duchess of Devonshire has picked up a top tourism award for her contribution to the tourism industry in Derbyshire.
She was awarded a special Lifetime Achievement Award at Visit Peak District & Derbyshire's awards night at Chatsworth's Carriage House Restaurant last week.
David James, chief executive of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, said the award was an acknowledgement of the "considerable achievements" of the Dowager Duchess and the late 11th Duke over 55 years at Chatsworth.
"It was a pleasure to pay tribute to their influential role as ambassadors — not only for Chatsworth, but also for the Peak District and Derbyshire," he said.
Accepting her award, The Dowager Duchess — who is 90 on March 31 — praised the key roles played by both her late husband and the hard-working, committed team behind-the-scenes at Chatsworth.
