GMTV presenter Penny Smith visited her home town of Eastwood and paid a visit to the DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum.

Penny - who was born in Greenhills Road – was visiting friend and ex-colleague Gloria De Piero, the town’s MP.

Gloria said: “I’m so proud of the museum I always take my friends there, but Penny really wanted to go because she’s from Eastwood.

“She loved it and was really impressed with the tour guides who painted a brilliant picture of what life was like when Lawrence lived there.”

The pair then visited 101 Greenhills Road, the house where Penny was born.

“She got really emotional because she hasn’t seen it since she left age six,” said Gloria.
