Chaotic scenes after car crash

There were chaotic scenes in Ilkeston on Friday afternoon after police closed the exit on to the bottom of Heanor Road for a short while after a two-car crash.

The drivers of the Vauxhall Corsa and Nissan Note, which collided at the junction with Manners Road at about 2pm, were checked over by paramedics on the scene but were not injured.

After the collision, the Nissan was pushed up on to the kerb and into the railings near the pedestrian crossing across Heanor Road.

Police remained on the scene to help the drivers get their vehicles, which both appeared to be badly damaged, recovered from the area and then re-opened the exit.
