Charity night in Eastwood in aid of Cancer Research
A CHARITY night is being held in Eastwood in aid of Cancer Research.
Margaret Newton has organised the event at the Library Bar in Scargill Walk because she has several friends suffering with cancer.
There will be karaoke, a tombola, raffle, a buffet and a bar.
Ms Newton said: "Quite a few people I know have got cancer and I just thought it would be nice to do something for them.
"I've never done anything like this before or raised any money for charity. I had a party for my 50th at the Library bar and thought it was such a good venue, so I thought that would be the ideal place to do something."
Almost 40 prizes have already been donated by local shops and include a weekend away, meals out, hair cuts and flowers.
The event will be held on September 4 between 7pm and midnight.
Tickets are 5 and can be bought from Anthony Vyne newsagents in Nottingham Road opposite the Wellington Inn, or from Margaret on 07511 771 864 or Anna Newton on 01773 764016.
Cancer Research supports over 4,800 scientists, doctors and nurses investigate all aspects of cancer.
Chances of surviving have doubled in the last 40 years.
