AN Eastwood councillor presented cheques to St Mary’s Church in Eastwood and Greasley Beauvale Primary School.
The money from Cllr Keith Longdon went towards paying for replacement chairs at the church’s Stanley Turner Memorial Lounge, and towards the Rainbow Garden at the old DH Lawrence school building.
Church warden Woodliffe Wright said: “The lounge is used by various community groups, as well as church groups, so the new chairs will be very much appreciated.
“We are grateful to Nottinghamshire County Council and to Cllr Longdon for securing this money towards their replacement.”
Greasley Beauvale School teacher Emma Kelly said the money would be spent on bird boxes and compost bins at the Rainbow Garden – an area created to remember the legacy of Lawrence.
