Closure D-day for station
An official document released by East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) shows that Eastwood’s 999 station could be saved from closure.
The proposal confirms the Advertiser’s previous report that Eastwood could have been identified, along with a handful of others stations, to be saved — as an alternative to original, controversial closure plans.
EMAS has been looking at ‘options’ in light of feedback from the public consultation, and the option to keep an extra 14 hubs open is labelled as the ‘preferred’ way forward.
The option involves keeping 27 hubs open across the East Midlands, instead of just 13 as originally planned. The final decision will be made at a meeting next Monday.
A spokesperson for EMAS said: “No final decision has been taken. That will happen on March 25 at our Trust board meeting.”
EMAS held a three-month consultation into the original plans, which proposed closing every station in Nottinghamshire except two.
