Commuity service for benefit fraud

A Selston woman was ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work after being found guilty of benefit fraud.

Elizabeth Bartholomew falsly claimed £23,400 income Support, housing benefit and council tax benefit.

She failed to tell the council she had a change in circumstances, and was living with a partner.

Miss Bartholomew, of Portland Road, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a 12 month community order and to pay £100 costs.

In court she said she felt very sorry about what she had done. She said that she has been paying back the money she had been over paid and that she was maintaining the arrangement.
