Council names and shames poor hygiene food outlets on website
DINERS can now check how hygienic Erewash food outlets are before shopping there, thanks to a new ratings website.
Erewash Borough Council this month switched to a new food hygiene rating system for all businesses which serve food, including restaurants, pubs, sandwich shops, takeaways and supermarkets, and has published a list online.
A search of outlets which have been inspected in Ilkeston shows that most have scored either a maximum five points or four points.
But, although none in town were deemed to have scored the lowest zero points, there were a handful with a poor one-out-of-five rating.
These included Chilli Pot in Cotmanhay Road, the New Inn in Bath Street, Radhuni Indian takeaway in Bath Street, The Munch Box in Merlin Way, and Sandwich Bites in Nottingham Road.
To let customers know, each business is required to display their rating on a window sticker and will receive a certificate
