Councillor backs scheme for kids

A scheme for youngsters in Aldercar and Langley Mill during school holidays has received a £3,600 cash boost.

Derbyshire County councillor Kevin Parkinson has backed an activities scheme for youngsters, between seven and 15-years-old, at Aldercar Community Language College.

The scheme, which provides fun with sport, arts and crafts and a free healthy lunch is attended by between 70 and 100 young people.

Aldercar and Langley Mill Parish Council has recently taken over the role of management and funds seeker to allow the initiatives to continue. It has pledged £4,500 for the next three years towards the scheme from April 2013.
