Councillors freeze tax for third year

Councillors in Greasley have frozen the parish precept for the third year running.

Residents of a band D property will pay council tax of £49.80 a year for parish purposes – equivalent to 96p per week.

Finance and general purposes chairman Cllr John Handley said that despite the freeze the parish council was embarking on an ‘ambitious programme’ to improve local facilities.

Jubilee Park has had an extensive makeover, work is being done on Moorgreen Corner, new footpaths, benches and football posts will be put in Beauvale Recreation Ground and plans are being put in place to modernise the parish hall building. The council is also looking at re-instating play equipment on the Greenhills Road open space.
