Couple terrified by night raid bid

A young couple were left terrified when offenders tried to break down their door in the middle of the night.

The attempted burglary at a property on Carrwood Road, Renishaw, happened around 1am on Saturday.

The occupants, a 25-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, were in bed at the time.

One of the victim's mothers, who did not want to be identified, said: "They heard banging and jumped out of bed.

"There was someone trying to break in through the front door. It was so frightening, they were terrified."

The offenders used an unknown implement in a bid to force the door open. They caused damage to the frame and lock but did not gain entry to the property.

The incident was reported to the police, who said neighbours had seen two men dressed in black running down the street around the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Derbyshire Police on 0345 123 3333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
