Crash driver killed
A 35-year-old driver died at the scene of a two van smash.
Ian Wileman of The Cliff, Matlock, was killed in the crash, which happened on the A61 between Tupton and Clay Cross around 5.45am on Thursday.
Mr Wileman was travelling south towards Clay Cross in a white Renault car-derived van, which collided with a silver Vauxhall Vivaro panel van being driven in the opposite direction.
The road was closed between the Royal Oak at Tupton and Thanet Street in Clay Cross for several hours while emergency service crews worked to clear the scene.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing for any witnesses to contact the collision investigation unit on the witness appeal line (01773) 572929.
