Dog lover Tracy to the rescue on M1

DOG lover Tracy Scott came to the rescue of this cute canine when she found him running loose near the M1 motorway.

She saw the little lost dog was all alone and luckily managed to capture him before he ran onto the carriageway at junction 29A.

Tracy (42), of Markham Road, Duckmanton, thinks that the dog was dropped off by a van that pulled up nearby shortly before she first saw him at around 5pm on Sunday.

"I watched him running around and he didn't seem to have an owner anywhere," She said.

"I went in the house and got a spare lead. When I went out of the gate to try and get him he went the worst way he could up the southbound slip road.

'Chase'

"He was running all the way up so I had to chase him all the way up to the M1.

"I have never run so fast!"

As Tracy was chasing the pooch Highways Officers pulled up alongside in their patrol vehicle and blocked the road, enabling her to catch him.

She looked after him over night before calling the dog wardens at Chesterfield Borough Council to come and collect him.

"He is a lovely little chap," said Tracy, who also has a dog of her own.

"It's a shame he was dumped there because he was almost destined to be run over. He has had a very, very lucky escape."

Dog warden Mitch Curran is now looking after the dog for the 30 days for the owner to come forward.

Mitch said: "He's a lovely little dog who has been well looked after and is very well behaved.

"There's been no report of him missing and as he wasn't wearing a collar and tag and he hasn't been micro-chipped we've no way of identifying him."

If anyone recognises the dog they should contact Chesterfield Borough Council on 01246 345345 or call Mitch on 07719 924403.
