Driver crashed after falling ill at wheel

A woman was taken to hospital after falling ill at the wheel of her car and crashing through several gardens on Saturday afternoon.

Police and fire crews were called to Corporation Road, near its junction with Thurman Street, at 2pm after the car left the road and travelled through several gardens before ending up in a hedge.

The driver, who is in her 30s, was given oxygen at the scene before being taken by ambulance to the Queen’s Medical Centre.

She was not seriously injured.
