Dronfield family fight for justice over killing

THE family of a Killamarsh teenager who was killed while on holiday in Greece has launched a campaign to bring those response for his death to justice.

Relatives and friends of Matthew Cryer have already gained the support of thousands of people who have signed a petition calling for the Greek authorities to hold a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death and bring criminal charges against those responsible.

An inquest held in Chesterfield in May ruled that the teenager, of Gaunt Close, Killamarsh, was unlawfully killed while he was on holiday in Zante last July.

Witnesses said that they had seen bouncers at a nightclub in Laganas drag him out of the venue before pushing him downstairs and punching him in the face.

A post mortem found that he died from head injuries that caused bleeding into his brain.

Derbyshire Police and the Serious and Organised Crime Agency have already vowed to put pressure on the Greek police, encouraging them to investigate Matthew's death.

Now the campaign for justice for Matthew organised by his family and friends is gathering pace, with coachloads of supporters set to deliver the petition to the Greek Embassy in London next month.

A campaign website has been set up at www.justice4matthew.com
