Eastwood youngsters help deaf children
Youngsters from the Eastwood Rainbows have been coining in the cash to help deaf children.
They are raising money to fund a listening bus – a mobile educational vehicle run by the Deaf Association by collecting coins.
The girls took pennies in to their group session last Thursday and used them to fill template pictures of the bus on the floor. The money, totalling 41.85, was then put towards the new bus.
Listening buses are used by schools and various organisations to educate children by offering games and teaching sign language.
The fundraising is part of the Girl Guides centenary next year. The girls were offered a choice of 19 charities to raise for and chose the Deaf Association because they have recently been learning sign language.
They will also be doing a sponsored hour-long silence.
