Educational week for Greasley kids

Children at Greasley Beauvale Primary School have been learning about World War Two and African culture.

Classes three and seven went on an educational visit to Nottingham Castle where they learnt all about child evacuees during World War Two. Staff and kids dressed up in clothing from the era, wearing gas mask boxes and name labels as kids did when they were evacuated.

They all learnt the jitterbug and Lambeth Walk dance, took part in an air raid and learnt about food rationing.

The early years children enjoyed a workshop learning about African culture through music and dance. Throughout the day the children learned songs in an African language, participated in an African drumming session and perfected a couple of African dances.

Parents watched a performance at the end of the day.
