Ex-heroin addict talks in public

An ex-heroin addict and drug dealer from Manchester is giving a talk in Eastwood during a church service this Sunday.

Barry Woodward grew up in Manchester and got involved in drugs aged 16. After 14 years of addiction, dealing, and spells in and out of prison, he said he found ‘faith’ and it transformed his life.

Barry will talk about his life experiences at the New Horizon Church Sunday service, held at the theatre at Eastwood Comprehensive School this Sunday at 11am.

Church pastor Andy Dilnot said it was an event for the whole community, and not just church members.

“It’s just an uplifting story and it’s very relevant for the town,” he said.

Doors open at 10.15am for coffee and the event starts at 11am. It’s free admission.

Each year Barry speaks at about 130 events and contributes to drug-related discussions on the BBC, Channel 4 and Sky TV.
