Girl Guides mark World Thinking Day

Over 100 Brownies and Guides took part in a programme of activities in Eastwood to celebrate World Thinking Day.

Girls from 15 units in the Beauvale division took part in various activities and classes at Eastwood Comprehensive School to mark the birthdays of the movement's founding members, Lord Baden Powell and his wife Olave.

Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and young leaders all took part in activities including arts and crafts, drumming sessions, music, salsa dancing and belly dancing.

The girls came from groups across the whole area including Eastwood, Kimberley, Nuthall, Greasley, Newthorpe and Brinsley.

The aim of World Thinking Day this year was to raise awareness of people in poorer countries.

Around 30,000 children die every day from poverty and meglect, and two billion people live without adequate food and basic needs.
