Hunt to find alleged 'conman'

Police are appealing for Chesterfield residents to help them in their hunt for a man who claimed to be the brother of comedian Peter Kay and allegedly conned pub landords out of cash.

Peter Stead, who also goes by the name of Danny Kay, allegedly took money from several pub landlords in Derby during the summer of 2009, offering to put on a comedy night to raise money for the Lewis Mighty Fund.

He was given cash by landlords to secure the booking but failed to perform.

The fund was launched to send four-year-old Lewis, a cancer patient, to America for treatment.

Police say Stead (47) is of large build, with sandy blond hair.

The case featured on Crimewatch in January and several calls were received from people who had seen a man matching Stead's description in Chesterfield and Blackpool.

The investigation team can be contacted on 0345 123 3333 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555
