Increase in 999 calls

The freezing weather saw East Midlands Ambulance Service dealing with an increase in calls over the weekend with 1,000 people reporting a life-threatening illness or injury on Sunday.

More than 3,400 calls were taken by EMAS at the weekend.

Details will be announced in the coming weeks, but there are expected to be local, regional and national prizes.
