Knife robbery at Langley Mill store
A ROBBER held a knife up to a woman's throat at Farmfoods in Langley Mill before escaping with £100 cash out the till.
The knife-wielding robber demanded the cashier hand over the money as he paid for a can of drink at the Acorn Centre store on Station Road.
The manager at the shop, Anna Palethorpe, said: "One man stood at the automatic door to keep it open and the other bought a can of pop and went to the till.
"He paid with a 20 note and as the cashier checked to make sure it was real and opened the till, he held the knife up and said 'I want all the money'.
"She thought it was wind up at first until she actually saw the knife. She moved out of the way and let him take what he wanted.
"It's terrible, she (the cashier) is really shaken up, she's not even taking calls. She's asked for a few days off work."
Ms Palethorpe said she is stepping up security at the store following the incident just after 7.30pm on Tuesday, March 2,
"We are changing the layout of the front of the shop and moving the till that's near the door. We're changing the views and angles of the CCTV cameras too", she said.
Both men were in their early 20s, one was wearing blue jeans, a stripey top, a white scarf and a beanie hat and the other was wearing a black beanie hat, a cream scarf over his face, a black puffer jacket and black trousers.
