Man is arrested after attack

A man has been arrested following an attack in Eastwood last week.

A 43-year-old man from Eastwood was interviewed by cops following an attack on a 61-year-old man on Sunday, March 10.

Last week the Advertiser reported how the pensioner had gone to the rescue of a woman who had fallen out of a car, when he was assaulted.

He had been driving from Hilltop to Eastwood when he saw the woman lying in Nottingham Road. He went over to see if she was okay, and moments later was assaulted.

The woman did not suffer any serious injuries, and the 61-year-old is now out of hospital and recovering from head injuries.

The man arrested was interviewed and released on police bail.

The incident happened at about 7.30pm between the police station and the library.
