March is worst month for conmen

Residents across Nottinghamshire are being warned that March is the peak month for doorstep crime.

Early spring is when conmen start offering services such as gardening or roof repairs, which are often in demand after the winter.

The number of reported doorstep crime incidents to Nottinghamshire County Council’s trading standards team has had a peak in March for the last two years, along with the summer months of July and August.

To find a local trusted trader visit www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk or phone Citizens’ Advice’s consumer service on 08454 04 05 06.

Alternatively display a ‘no cold callers’ sticker.
