Meteor was cause of ‘UFO sighting’

A ‘UFO sighting’ in the skies above the Advertiser district is believed to have been a meteor, according to experts.

Loscoe woman Dawn Ratcliffe was among several people to have seen a large flash at around 10pm on Saturday, January 26 . Dawn posted her sighting on internet forums - and discovered that several other people had seen the same thing. The British UFO Research Association, which looks into suspected alien encounters, received reports of a ‘mass object’ in the skies at the time. But after research it believes it was most likely debris burning up in the earth’s atmosphere. John Wickam of the organisation said the ‘object’ was “most likely to have been a meteor.”
