MP's anti-cruelty pledge

Broxtowe MP Nick Palmer has pledged his support for Vote Cruelty Free, a new non-partisan coalition of animal protection organisations working to put animals on the political agenda.

The alliance has sent its manifesto to all parliamentary hopefuls announced for the next General Election and asked them to show their support for the issues raised.

Nick Palmer said: "I warmly support the package in this manifesto. I've been very much involved in animal welfare issues ever since election in 1997, and am currently vice-chairman of the All-Party Group for Animal Welfare, as well as an executive member of the Labour Animal Welfare Society."

Vote Cruelty Free covers a broad range of animal welfare issues including wild and marine animals, animal experimentation, cruel sports, the fur trade and farming.

Vote Cruelty Free is urging all hopefuls to pledge their support for the initiative.
