New store jobs boost
Up to 80 new jobs will be created in Chesterfield as a new Matalan store is to open in the town.
The fashion and homeware retailer is expected to open a 24,000 square foot branch on Chatsworth Road in late October as part of the company's expansion programme across the UK.
It is believed that the store will be at the former B&Q site on West Bars roundabout.
Matalan chief executive Alistair McGeorge said: "We are very pleased with our recent performance and our continued growth.
"Despite the difficult UK economy our store expansion programme plans are well underway and we are delighted to open our new store in Chesterfield.
"We believe there is significant scope for new Matalan stores in the UK and expect to continue to exploit this opportunity in coming years."
The new store will sell all of Matalan's product ranges.
Regional manager Gary Gagan said: "We are delighted to be opening a new store in Chesterfield and are looking forward to welcoming our customers."
Those interested in applying for a position at the new store should contact their local Jobcentre.
