Open day for building trade apprenticeships

Anyone in the Broxtowe borough looking to take their first step towards a career in the building trade is invited to attend an open day in Beeston next week to find out more about three exciting apprenticeship opportunities.

Broxtowe Borough Council will host the drop-in session at the Town Hall, in Foster Avenue, Beeston, between 2pm and 4pm on October 2, where prospective candidates are invited to learn more about three, two-year apprenticeships within the council’s Housing Repairs team.

Each role will focus on delivering the council’s comprehensive housing repairs and maintenance service to tenants across the borough, alongside a two-year period of day release at Stephenson’s College, Nottingham.

On the job training and experience will be provided to successful candidates within the plumbing, electrical, joinery and building trades, whilst they work towards a recognised NVQ Level Two apprenticeship qualification in Multi-skilled Operations.

The council welcomes applications from all members of the community for the three vacancies, and in particular school leavers between the ages of 16 and 18 who either live or have studied in the borough.

Applicants will be expected to have GCSE Maths and English at a minimum level grade C and the ability to demonstrate good communication skills.

After the closing date for applications on October 8, shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a competence assessment before being invited for an interview at Broxtowe Borough Council.

For more information about the open day and to enquire about the three apprenticeship opportunities, please contact the council on 0115 917 3157, email hlc@broxtowe.gov.uk or visit www.broxtowe.gov.uk/jobs.
