Outdoor performance of play at local landmark

AN outdoor play will be staged at historic ruins in the Greasley countryside.

The play based on the turbulent history of Beauvale Priory will be watched by 200 people a night when it is staged on July 29, 30 and 31.

The Priory, which until recently was out of bounds to the public, will host three performances of 'The Cries of Silent Men' which has been specially written as a community play and commissioned by Broxtowe Borough Council and funded with a grant of 28,700 by the Arts Council.

A cast of over 50 local people will perform the play and they are currently rehearsing at the unique venue whatever the weather.

Work costing 250,000 to restore and they conserve the Priory is due to start after the play.

The historic site has not had any restoration work carried out since the 16th century.

Tickets for the show cost 7, concessions cost 5.50, and are available from the Lakeside Box office by calling 0115 8467777.
