Paddy Tipping is new police chief

Labour’s Paddy Tipping won last week’s election to become the new crime commissioner for Nottinghamshire.

Mr Tipping won with 65,919 votes and Malcolm Specncer, Independent, got 52,789 votes. Other candidates were Tony Roberts, Conservative, and Raj Chandran who was Independent.

The new commissioner will be responsible for the overall efficiency of the county’s policing.

He made his Declaration of Acceptance of Office at a short ceremony in Tuesday on November 20, witnessed by the Police Area Returning Officer, Allen Graham with victims of crime, and other members of the wider criminal justice system also attending.
