Parish council hosts day to remember

GREASLEy Parish Council has organised a day to remember for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee later this year.

There will be a ‘breakfast walk’ from Beauvale Priory through DH Lawrence countryside and red London bus tours of the parish before the lighting of a beacon and a grand final firework display.

Throughout the day there will be children’s sports, fancy dress and scarecrow competitions, traditional games, live entertainment and a sing-along to the nation’s favourite songs, including the National Anthem.

The council clerk Andrew Marshall said “Ideas for the celebration are still being received and developed.

“We are still open to suggestions for other celebrations but events will only happen if organisations come forward.”

Celebrations in Greasley will take place on June 4.
