Prams and pints hit town

Prams and pints will hit Kimberley this weekend as the traditional pram race takes to the streets.
Beer barrells and barmyness will be the two main features of the race, due to kick off at the Stag Inn on Sunday at 1pm.
Teams will get in fancy dress and race their prams through the town, for the 34th annual event to raise money for local charities.
There will be a fun fair, street entertainers, stalls, live music and a craft fair all on offer for both entrants and onloookers.
The Kimberley Pram Race began in 1973 when local scouts needed some money raised for a summer camp.
Members of the community decided to race through the town with prams dressed as mothers and babies.
It raised £15 and among the first racers were landlord of the Nelson Harry Burton, local builders Malcolm Judd and Mick Hartshorn, scrap metal dealer Jess Bamford and Clarence Woolley from Kimberley Recycling.
The event continued until 1999 when the committee started to struggle for entries, and during the 26 years, it raised over £100,000 for local charities.
However, the pram race was resurected in 2004 and in 2007 it was taken over by Kimberley Town Council.
Many of the men who entered the original competition have entered every year since.
Main Road in Kimberley will be closed between 12noon and 5pm.
At its height, about 90 teams would enter and spectators would come from as far as away as Devon.
