Plans have been put in place to find the money for a feasability study to get the Nottingham tram out to Eastwood and Kimberley.

Following a meeting between Kimberley councillors and Jane Urquhart, the cabinet transport portfolio holder at Nottingham City Council, it was agreed a plan would be put in place to apply for funding.

Ms Urquhart told the councillors that the city council was keen to see an improved link into the city centre from the A610.

Cllr Richard Robinson said the need for the tram was now greater than ever with plans for a lot of housing being put in place, particularly in Nuthall, and the ‘already overstretched road network’.

A campaign group KENTAG (Kimberley, Eastwood & Nuthall Tram Action Group) has been working on getting phase three of the Nottingham tram project to the area for the last three years.

The group has lobbied motorists at Phoenix Park on their views, and has drafted a route out, incorporating the old railway lines in Kimberley.
