Erewash MP, Jessica Lee, has met with the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) after concerns from constituents about Walter, Scott and Ross.

The firm, who were based at an office n St Mary’s Street, Ilkeston, folded in 2009.

Since then clients have complained about missing paperwork and documents including wills and property deeds.

Ms Lee met with the SRA after discussing the matter with the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve.

Ms Lee said: “Mr Grieve invited me to join him at a meeting with the SRA so that I could raise my concerns.

“I am unhappy with the response that I have received from the SRA so far and have informed them that I still had further questions to ask of them about their involvement with the closure of the firm.

“In particular, the concerns of my constituents regarding confidential documents left on the premises.

“In addition to that, I want to ensure that every person who has not received the documents which are due to them, either gets them, or receives a cast iron explanation as to why they cannot be retrieved.”

The property where the firm was based was left unsecure for months after it’s closure and boards put up in May to stop trespassers and vandals have recently been removed after the expiry of a security firm’s contract.

Ms Lee added: “I would encourage any Erewash constituents who have concerns about this matter to contact my office on 0115 972 2419.”
