Robbers are given 22 years in prison

Two armed robbers who burst into Frankie and Bennys restaurant with knives have been sentenced to 22 years in jail between them.

Kieron Moss and Nathan Furnell threatened staff at the Giltbrook retaurant as they were clearing away one night in July and escaped with £5,000 cash.

Convicted at Nottingham Crown Court last week, Moss was handed a 12 year prison sentence and Furnell a ten year prison sentence.

Det Sgt Steve Wragg said: “The judge has come down hard on these men, and rightly so.

“While no one was injured in the attack the pair forced their victims to endure a terrifying ordeal at knifepoint.

“Not only have they had to come to terms with what happened that night, but they have had their entire sense of security shaken.

“Moss and Furnell didn’t care about the impact on others, but they now have plenty of time to think about it in their cells.”

The pair burst into Frankie and Bennys on the Giltbrook Retail Park at 10.15pm on Sunday July 31.

They stole mobile phones and forced the manager to open the safe where they stole £5,000.

They escaped in a stolen Mercedes, but abandoned it in Kimberley and jumped into a Transit van. The car was forensically examined by police.

Moss, 26, of Seaton Crescent, Aspley and Nathan Furnell, aged 25, of Aspley Lane, Aspley, were convicted at Nottingham Crown Court last Thursday.
