The victim of a robbery who suffered a massive heart attack is being discharged from hospital after six weeks.

Dalwinder Dhami was held down and robbed in her Kimberley home at the end of August and suffered a heart attack a few days later.

Her family were told to expect the worse, but six weeks later after undergoing several operations and suffering kidney failure, she is being discharged this weekend.

Her son Harnack said her miraculous recovery was partly due to the support she has had from the public.

“The public support has been fantastic. We have had so many people coming over and asking how she is. The staff at Sainsburys in Kimberley always ask when I go in, we’ve had cards and flowers from the local taxi firm, and even the Chinese takeaway.

“There’s been so many people. It’s just heart warming. It’s been amazing.”

Four men burst into Mrs Dhami’s home in Bassett Close and took the jewellery she was wearing and £24 cash.

During the ordeal they sprayed her with bathroom detergent, threatened to pour boiling custard over her and trod on her legs leaving her with a bad knee.

Harnack said: “She has a made massive, massive improvement. At one stage they told me and my sister to expect the worse.”

This week police said they had some leads to follow up with regards to catching those reposnsible.
