School celebrates its 40th

editorial image

Celebrations have taken place at Hempshill Hall Primary School near Nuthall to mark its 40th anniversary.

A special assembly was held, and there was a get together for ex-teachers and past pupils.

A film showing Rolf Harris’s visit to the school in 1979 was also played.

One of the former teachers said: “It’s like we’ve never been away. The school still has that special quality.”

One of Ofsted’s ‘outstanding’ rated schools, Hempshill primary has had just two headteachers since its official opening in 1973.
