Secondary school places allocated
Thousands of letters have been sent by Derbyshire County Council this week telling parents which secondary school their child has been offered a place at.
The authority sent out letters on Monday making offers of places to 8,456 Derbyshire children. It said of those who applied by the closing date 94 percent had been offered their first choice school and 99 percent had been offered a place at one of their three preferred schools.
This is the sixth year the county council has acted as a central clearing house to deal with admissions to all secondary schools.
Parents who have not got a place at their preferred school have the right of appeal to an independent panel. Information of how to appeal is available online by visiting www.derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions or by calling 08456 058 058 between 8am and 8pm on weekdays or 9.30am to 4pm on Saturdays.
Parents who have applied for places at infant, primary or junior schools for their child will be notified by letter on March 29. Anyone who has not already made an application should do so urgently by ringing the admissions and appeals team on 01629 537479.
