Selston teachers' fundraising ride for sick students
A TEACHING twosome have taken on a cycle challenge to support two students suffering from cancer.
Steve Taylor and Chris Ridley both teach at Selston Arts and Community College.
The pair are riding a 300 mile route from Workington in Cumbria to Whitby in North Yorkshire and back again.
They will be raising funds for the childrens cancer charity CLIC Sargent after Ashleigh Boag and Daniel Lemon, year ten pupils at the college, were diagnosed with cancer.
Mr Ridley said: Ashleigh and Daniel's plight has raised awareness of cancer and the effect it has on the individual and their loved ones.
"Pupils and staff have been very supportive and as a result of our efforts we hope to raise enough money to provide Ashleigh and Daniel with net book computers so they can keep up with their studies from home.
"We would also like to give CLIC Sargent a sizeable amount because they're a fantastic and deserving young people's cancer charity."
The duo have been training in preparation for the ride which takes place over the weekend of July 27 and 28. Anyone who would like to sponsor the teachers or donate to CLIC Sargent should visit www.justgiving.com/there-n-back or call Julie Bailey at the college on 01773 810321.
