Sports star at festival

Churches in Eastwood have organised a festival to be held at Greasley Beauvale Primary School tomorrow.

Former Zimbabwe cricketer, political activist and gospel singer Henry Olonga will open the free family festival, co-ordinated by Newthorpe Baptist Church and Beauvale Methodist Church.

The main events at the festival will include Henry Olonga singing, Ilkeston strong man and head balancer John Evans and Simone Witherden's Dance School.

Stalls and activities include Chinese calligraphy, tennis and cricket coaching, a coal mining exhibition, vegetable carving, a bouncy castle, juggler, reflexology, a painting competition and games and refreshments.

The festival at the school on Main Street, Newthorpe, will be open between 11am and 3pm.
